General Orientation

General Orientation… aah, first day in BINUS.. we were gathered up in a room and socialized about General Orientation. I didn’t make new friends in the first day, as I am the shy guy type (plus I usually observe how people are like when first seeing them, cause I’m very picky in who I can call a friend). The first thing I noticed in the class was the lack of females xD but hey, that’s Computer Science for yah!

We all had to introduce ourselves in front of the class and state the reason for choosing our majors, the BCs also introduced themselves to us, as we were going to be with them for the whole of GO. One thing that I still remember was “Uniq lo”, when we were told to find people that fit a description written on the paper, everyone was like “Is there anything here that fits you??”, of course at first I thought that I’d rather not move around and just stick to my chair… but then I thought “eh, what the heck..” so I went all around half the whole class, though in the end I only filled like.. five. At the end of the day, everything was all fun and good.

After the first day we had to start wearing uniforms, we had to wear a white shirt and black pants/trousers. I also started to get to know some of the other freshmen and got a friend or two. We were given all sorts of topics about BINUS and how things work there. Everything from the journey we’ll be going through as Binusians, the way BINUS works, its history and how it came to be, rules, regulations and anything in-between. We were also socialized about Binus Maya, which is like a media for connecting between lecturers, students, etc. We were also introduced to the college’s communities and clubs, I had an interest on at least 5 or so, but I limited myself to picking three.

On the last day of General Orientation, all 10 groups had to perform what we call a “yel yel” (not sure what the english word for it is… but I’m guessing it’s a “cheer”?), let me tell you this… ours was originally really short, I was so glad that our group was one of the later ones to perform xD cause we practically improvised some things on the go and winged it just to make it last longer.

Welp, I guess that’s all I have to say about my experience in GO. I’m not really good at telling stories or past experiences, hence why this is kind of short… well, for me it is… all-in-all, GO was a really fun experience 😀
